Johnson Carpet was started by Lyle and Ruth Johnson in 1952. In 1955 the company opened it's first store in Grandville, MI where the corporate offices still remain.
Since 1975 Johnson Carpet Inc has been owned by the second generation of the Johnson Family. Throughout the company's history the business has grown from selling carpet out of the Johnson's garage, to being one of the Nation's Top 50 Specialty Flooring Retailers. Johnson Carpet Inc has diversified into four divisions with 9 locations in Grand Rapids MI, Detroit MI and Toledo OH.
During the 1980's, Johnson Carpet responded to an opportunity to expand into the commercial flooring market. In 1984 Johnson Commercial Interiors was formed. Johnson Commercial Interiors has witnessed dynamic growth in sales volume, staff, product offerings and project sizes. In 2003, Johnson Commercial Interiors established two main departments: the Commercial Department and the Residential Department. This has allowed us to better serve our customers and will enable us to best serve you in the future.
